Vegan/Vegetarian - Everything is vegetarian - apart from one flavour - Gorgonzola D.O.P because the cheese is made in the traditional manner using rennet. All of our sorbets are vegan and there are always at least 2-3 sorbets to choose from everyday (over a third of the menu). There are also a selection of vegan chocolate and we have oat milk for your hot chocolate and coffees at no extra charge. Eggs - We are mostly egg-free. There are only one or two flavours which contain eggs - Lemon Curd and Zabaione. Please tell your scooper about your allergen. Dairy/Soya/Gluten - All the ice creams are made on the premises in the same machine and served from the same cabinet. Most of the flavours do not contain gluten or soya as an ingredient but there will always be traces. We sanitise after making products with allergens so the biggest chance of cross-contamination occurs during service. Our cones contain dairy, gluten and soya so please tell your scooper of your allergen and we can change to a new utensil to scoop your gelato and use tubs/spoons which are stored away from the cones. Please tell your scooper about your allergen. Nuts - We have at least one flavour containing nuts each day. All the ice creams are made on the premises in the same machine and served from the same cabinet. We sanitise after making products with allergens so the biggest chance of cross-contamination occurs during service. We can change to a new utensil to scoop your gelato and scoop from underneath the surface of the gelato but we can’t eliminate the chance of trace. We would need a dedicated churner, dedicated storage freezer and serve from a dedicated cabinet to eliminate this chance - unfortunately we are the smallest shop in the Grassmarket! We advise that if you have a severe/fatal nut allergy then don’t eat our product. Apologies that we can’t accommodate you. Calorie Content Advice - we understand that some customers would like to have calorie content advice. Generally gelato contains less fat than industrial ice cream as it’s made using fresh milk instead of cream and butter. A single scoop of gelato will contain approximately 100-160 calories depending on the flavour: Milk will have the least calories, a flavour like Chocolate or Hazelnut will have the most. Most of our sorbets (apart from chocolate, coconut or nut ones) are fat-free and have a 20-25% sugar content.
